Technopark engineering lab becomes ‘first in country’s IT parks’ to get NABL accreditation

The engineering laboratory of IT hub Technopark here has received accreditation from the NABL, making it "the first IT park" in the country to get the recognition.

The accreditation has been granted for meeting the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories, according to a statement.

Congratulating officials and support staff on the NABL accreditation, Technopark CEO Sandeep Kumar, IAS, said it made Technopark the only IT park in the country with a NABL-accredited engineering laboratory—ensuring quality and sustainable infrastructure development.

Technopark had opened civil and electrical engineering laboratories on its Phase I campus last year.

"The facility is a testament to ensuring the standards and quality assurance of construction and electrical works, including LT and HT materials. The lab has positioned Technopark to ensure the quality of its infrastructure works as well as provide necessary technical guidance to its co-developers," the CEO said.

Madhavan Praveen, Chief Technical Officer, Technopark, described the accreditation as a significant achievement for Technopark and its Engineering Department.

"The task was challenging and required sustained effort, dedication and close coordination as a team. Through our collective commitment, we were able to accomplish it. We now look forward to taking this momentum forward and working towards the next phase," he said.

The NABL-accredited lab will further strengthen quality control in Technopark's infrastructure works by supporting informed engineering decisions, material-performance verification, compliance monitoring and the reliability of built infrastructure, the statement said.

The laboratories are designed to serve as a hub for testing various parameters and assessing the quality of construction and electrical materials used in Technopark's works.

The Engineering Department of Technopark has developed the laboratories to conduct tests according to IS specifications and provide results in a timely manner, it said.

Developers and companies located in and around Technopark can also use the laboratory to ensure the quality and compliance of their construction materials and works with applicable specifications.

The electrical laboratory has provisions for repairing LED fixtures, drivers and other components, which could help reduce e-waste and costs, the statement said. The laboratory currently has facilities for testing concrete and construction materials for various parameters.
